I thought about offering you an internal organ as my B School Bonus.

Yes, that got a quite a few laughs when I posted it on Facebook.  But my newsfeed and inbox were starting to feel like a land rush, the period in American history where homesteaders would run, ride on horseback, or any other mad dash to put their flag in the ground and claim their plot of land.   There are LOTS of “bonus” offers out there right now.  Lots.  Many intriguing and on-the-level ones too.  But I want to offer you truth and transparency.  It's who I am and what I stand for.  And yes, you still get a prize. Landrush. Not my thing.

I am an affiliate for Marie Forleo’s wildly popular B School.  I get a very generous affiliate payout if and when you use my affiliate link.  The fine print, which I always honor and have a lawyer friend look at, says I can't say the exact amount but it is substantial and generous.  I am an affiliate because for many folks, it's the right program and they will benefit hugely from it.  I would tell them this, and have, even if I weren't an affiliate.  But I'm also happy for it to be a win-win and receive an affiliate payout.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I’d like to turn a paradigm on its head, because I can't be part of the status quo and I want to do affiliate marketing differently.  Transparency breeds trust and that is deeply important to me. And I have a rebellious spirit.  I'm not going to be doing a mad dash to stick my flag in the ground.  And I don't do hype.

While I only ever (ever) endorse and put my name behind things I think deserve to have my name next to it, I do receive monetary compensation if and when you use my link to register for the program.  It’s important to me that you know this, as I think it’s the right and transparent thing to do, and in the United States, it’s also the law that I disclose this.  It’s also a requirement of Forleo’s affiliate agreement (which I appreciate).

(Personally, I will go out of my way to use a disclosed affiliate link and I will go out of my way to not use an undisclosed affiliate link.  I have no idea why this bothers me so much and it really doesn’t matter.  I’d rather walk my talk with or without a generous affiliate offer.)

I took B School way back when.  People are always surprised that I did B School and people are always surprised that I liked it. But I did and I do.

B School can be a tremendous program for the right person.  I’ve suggested it to some people and dissuaded others from it, as it didn’t seem like a good fit for them.  I’m impressed with Marie Forleo’s* genuine desire for you to succeed wildly, however you define that, in your business.  The information is good, especially if an online business is new to you and I don't experience her positioning herself as a guru or a "just do this and make a million" type of teacher.  I think the community of support is profound and I think she is a great model of generosity.  (Again, the affiliate payout is incredibly generous.  Hence the land rush.)

I have not broken the enigmatic six-figure ceiling in my business.  Nope. In fact when I took B school I was a brand new mama and have only dipped in here and there, as I didn’t have the capacity to do it all.  Fortunately when you take B School once, you can take it indefinitely.  I’ll be jumping in again this time as I'm ready to raise things up a notch or two.

What B School did afford me, when I applied the learning, was a chance to work my own hours, in my own office and be with my new baby.  That was something I deeply desired.  In fact, this was huge.  It still is.  This has been profoundly important to me and my family.

Running my online coaching and course design business, and radically impacting lives, is one of my most important treasures.  I was an excellent coach before B School, but now I’m actually reaching people, media, and clients from all over the world. Without reaching people my work would have minimum impact and now it has a global reach.  My work makes a difference and it matters.  I learned how to do this through B School.

Could I have done this without B School?  Probably, eventually.  But prior to that it hadn't happened yet.   I was doing consulting work to supplement my coaching practice.  It was a pretty quick turnaround.

So I’m offering you truth and transparency.  That and a prize, if you'd like it...

One thing B School doesn’t address is how to run and create online courses.  I happen to know quite a bit about this, and have truckloads of experience in creative curriculum course design, for the likes of Deepak Chopra, The Omega Institute and lots of other places I could try to impress you with.  Like, tons.

So, if running courses that don’t suck and people get a lot out of, is something you’re keen on doing...

I’m offering my self-study course on creating courses (so meta) "Of Course You Can!  Complete Creative Curriculum Design for Coaches and Creatives".  And I’ll kick in an hour of consulting, IF you schedule that by September 1st.   Oh, and I’m not going to wait until the ‘trial’ period is over to send you your prize.  I’ll send it out when B School starts.  Again, I want to do this so it feels right and good to me.

I won't place a “value” on this and tell you it's worth "thousands of dollars".  It's a digital program (the time with me is my actual time, yes).  And because I want you to get good use out of it, I'm not going to pile on more "bonuses" because you can only digest so much- and heck, you're also doing B School.  To do it well, it helps to not bite off more than you can chew.

By the way, Chopra called me a "genius with course and curriculum design and facilitation".

I have yet to calculate the value of that.

If that’s not your thing, you are still welcome to use my link and help me pay off my student loans!  That's where the money I make from my affiliate sales for B School is slated to go.  I'd love to pay those suckers off.  In full.

Lots of folks are put off by affiliate marketing due to its potentially smarmy nature, but there is no reason it has to be that way.  As with anything, I want to do it in a way I can live with and honors my values. I want to offer that alternative.  If we want something to be different and change, we have the opportunity to do it differently and be, and support, the change we desire.  We all know this and I want to do it.

I trust that you'll know if taking B School is right for you and if you'd like to use my link.  (If it’s not, that’s cool, we're still friends.)  There are also some fancy bonuses out there, also offered in integrity, that might be of interest to you.  But I’m proud that I’ve found a way to be an affiliate in a way that feels right and in integrity to me:  Honestly, helpfully, and transparently.  Perhaps you value and appreciate that too.

If this all sounds good and you’d like to register for B School, here is my link.  Again, it puts a substantial part of your tuition into my account, after the trial period.  For whatever reason you use it, thank you.  I appreciate your going out of your way to do so.

If you want to get "Of Course You Can" or just make it a win-win (and help a sister out) you need to use this link, or it won’t be registered by B School.

Let me know if you have questions.  The B School site (yes, my affiliate link again) has tons of information and fancy videos, but I’m happy to chat with you too.  As you can see, I’m a pretty straight shooter.  Yay!  (That's all the hype I'm doing, folks.)

Thank you for reading my post.  And if you decide to use my link, thank you very much.
